　　John于1989年9月作为高级咨询师加入CRU铝部，之前在英国P&O 船运公司担任经济学家职位。1994年他担任钢铁梯队的研究经理，2003年他被提升为这个钢铁部的部门经理，负责所有钢铁及炼钢原材料的研究报告。除了钢铁研究工作外，John 同时承担了和全球钢铁企业建立联系，在钢铁领域参加一些咨询项目工作等责任。2000年,John负责研发CRU钢铁价格指数，目前该指数已经成为全球钢铁价格的基准。2004年，在已经拥有长达十年的钢铁业研究经验后，John被任命为CRU在中国的业务经理，负责在当地的业务。自2004年4月他开始常驻北京，在北京建立并发展起CRU驻中国代表处。John对中国具有相当丰富的经验，他与所有中国的大型钢厂、行业协会和政府部门都建立了长期的联系，同时还参与钢铁及其它金属行业的调研、咨询项目。他目前正在学习中文，并且管理着正在不断发展之中的北京办公室。他获得约克大学，经济和政治学硕士学位和货运学院专业资格证书

　　John joined CRU in September 1989 as a Senior Consultant in the Aluminium team, having previously been an Economist with P&O Shipping in the UK. In 1994 he became Research Manager of the Steel team, and was promoted to Steel Group Business Unit Manager in 2003, with responsibility for all regular products covering steel, special steel and steelmaking raw materials. In addition to steel research, John was responsible for forging business relations with steel companies around the world and working on many consultancy assignments in the steel area. In 2000, John was responsible for developing the CRU steel price index, which has now become a leading global benchmark for steel pricing.

　　After spending ten years researching the steel industry, in 2004, John was appointed Business Development Manager in China, responsible for CRU Group affairs. He has been located in Beijing since April 2004, where he opened a CRU Chinese Representative office. John has now gained extensive experience in China, where he has continued to enhance CRU relations with all leading Chinese steel companies, industry associations and government departments, as well as managing and contributing to various local projects in steel related areas. He is learning Mandarin and currently manages a growing Beijing office of 20 Chinese full-time nationals, including several steel industry experts, plus a network of local part time industry experts. He holds MA Economics and Politics from York University, and Professional Qualifications from Institute of Freight Forwarders.
